USA maps

The continental United States is bordered by Canada to the north, Mexico to the south, the Pacific Ocean to the west and the Atlantic Ocean to the east. The country boasts almost every geographic feature, including deserts, swamps, deep canyons and alpine regions. The three major mountain ranges are the Rockies and the Sierra Nevadas in the west, and the Appalachians in the east. Major waterways include the Mississippi River in the south and the Great Lakes in the north.

The northern part of the east coast is the most densely populated area, being the location of the oldest cities of New York, Boston, Washington, DC and Philadelphia. The centre of the country is the main agricultural belt. Washington, DC is one of the world's more tourist friendly capitals, even though it is crowded and can be dangerous in parts. DC is easy to navigate, full of impressive buildings and monuments, and contains America's finest collection of museums.
