Thailand maps

Thailand is located at the heart of Southeast Asia, 5° north of the equator and 100° east of the Greenwich meridian. This tropical country of 514,000km2 boasts a lengthy elongated coastline occupying the Gulf of Thailand and Andaman Sea, and has a massive interior consisting of fertile plains, and a mountainous north. It is bordered by Malaysia, Myanmar, Laos and Cambodia.

The capital, Bangkok, sits roughly in the centre of the country’s geographical spread and is a convenient hub for access to the rest of Asia. There is a good road infrastructure but limited rail network. Travelling from Bangkok to Phuket takes about eight hours by bus, with similar travelling times to Chiang Mai in the north.
