Thailand remains one of the safest and most popular travel destinations in Asia, largely due to its stable government, good medical facilities and infrastructure, and low levels of street crime. However, there is less regulation and enforcement of laws aimed at safety, and the attitude towards responsibility is generally lower than in European or North American countries.
Hospitals and clinics in Thailand are clean, organised and professional. The staff are familiar with treating foreigners and offer excellent health services with reliable diagnosis and medicine. Most doctors speak English. Emergency rescue services, however, may not be as prompt as required.
Safety in Thailand for travellers is generally good and the country is known for its passive people. Road safety, however, is a concern and the health in Thailand and region as a whole is periodically threatened by epidemic outbreaks.
