Netherlands health and safety

The Netherlands is a relatively safe place and a minimal amount of crime is directed at foreign visitors. However, pickpocketing and bag-snatching is a problem in crowded tourist areas during the summer. Health care and medical facilities are excellent.

Hospitals and clinics in the Netherlands are on par with any other Western nation and can handle just about any sort of emergency. In general, no special immunisations or medications are necessary for travel to the Netherlands.

As with any country, there is a risk of pickpocketing and bag-snatching in crowded tourist areas and on trains. Theft from cars, especially those with foreign licence plates, is common. Overall, the Netherlands is very safe and you shouldn’t have any problems regarding personal safety.
