Bologna maps

Bologna is the regional capital of Emilia-Romagna in northern Italy and boasts a population of 375,000 people. Half of the territory of Emilia Romagna is formed by the Apennines; the other half is a large plain which reaches to the Adriatic Sea. The coastline is flat and sandy, with a typical lagoon and marshy area

The city has an impressive history and its Renaissance architectural heyday has been well preserved, centres aroud two lovely squares: the Piazza Maggiore and the Piazza del Nettuno. Both serve as good central bases to begin a walking tour of the city centre's key attractions.
