Lying just south of the Tropic of Cancer at the southeastern tip of China, Hong Kong adjoins the province of Guangdong (Canton). The total land area of Hong Kong is 1,078km2, comprised of Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories, including 235 outlying islands.
Public transport in Hong Kong is excellent and is the best way to get around the busy city centres. The area is small enough to see on daytrips, using your hotel as a base. Ferry is a popular choice when visiting the outlying islands.
