Athens maps

Athens boasts a population of 3.27 million people over an area of 428 square kilometres. The city is bounded on three sides by Mt Parnitha, Mt Pendeli and Mt Hymettos, with the Saronic Gulf forming the city's boundary on the southern side. Athens is a popular departure point for ferries to the Greek Islands. At first, the city looks like a concrete jungle but in among the structures are attractions that will make an enjoyable couple of days.

Athens’ main attractions are close together and can be explored on foot or by taking advantage of the new metro system, which has drastically reduced travel times. A trip downtown can take an hour or more. When in Athens, the desirable areas to stay border the Plaka and the Acropolis. Everything you need, including shops, restaurants, the metro, the ferries, buses, taxis, and nightlife, is within walking distance.
