Copenhagen sits on the east coast of Denmark's largest island, Zealand (Sjælland)
and partly on the island of Amager, and faces the Oresund, the strait of water
that separates Denmark from Sweden. It boasts a population of 662,000 and
an area of 88km2. It is home to the world's longest mall, Strøget,
which is an amalgamation of five streets running right through the centre
of the city. It doesn't have the traffic snarls of many European cities, and
it's quite flat, so it's well suited to walking and biking.
